Reflektions

A 5-screen audiovisual installation for Coventry City of Culture with BISHI

Reflektions

Reflektions is an audiovisual installation by BISHI, featuring visuals designed and developed by Output Arts. The work explores the history of Coventry and features the voice of Hazel O'Conner. Output Arts, working closely with BISHI and guided by her music, combined 3D models and fluid simulations with depth-camera recordings of BISHI performing to produce the mesmeric visuals.

Reflektions was originally conceived as a 5-screen installation piece commissioned by Ludic Rooms as part of Random String, produced in partnership with Coventry City of Culture Trust as part of Coventry UK City of Culture. Supported with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England and the Canal & River Trust.

Output Arts adapted Reflektions in 2022 for a special event at The Queen's House in Greenwich celebrating Diwali. The video was the first ever artwork to be projected onto this UNESCO World Heritage site.

More about the performance at The Queen's House, Greenwich can be read in this article on the Royal Museums Greenwich website.

In 2022, Output Arts' Jonathan Hogg also adapted the work into a music video to accompany the release of the music from Reflektions, and produced artwork for the single and remix releases.

In 2023, BISHI performed a special series of live versions of Reflektions at the Arnolfini in Bristol, accompanied by musicians Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres and Philip Granell. Jonathan performed live, computer-generated visuals alongside, adapted from the original work.
